1. Start here:
A search for “Chrysostom” yields a long list of options. Choose the one with the American flag after it, in this case “John Chrysostum, Saint, d. 407.” We prefer that you leave out “Saint, d. 407,” and enter “John Chrysostom” into the database. (Click below for a larger image.)
3. If an individual’s name is not in VIAF or the Oxford Dictonary of Byzantium, consult the TLG. We have two workstations on the first floor of the library.
4. If an individual’s name is not in VIAF or ODB or TLG, you may construct a name in consultation with librarians.
5. BUT – don’t be afraid to put “unknown” for an author, scribe, etc.
